Mix, Match, Score, and Win

Qwirkle includes 108 wooden blocks with six different shapes in six colors. Using the blocks, players try to score probably the most points by building lines that share exactly the same shape or color. The simple setup makes this an instant winner for younger kids, while adults will love strategizing to win.

How to Play

A typical game of Qwirkle lasts about 45 minutes--longer if you are first learning the best way to play--and players will more than likely catch on for the rules in almost no time at all. The game could be setup anywhere, although a substantial tabletop is better to accommodate the generous quantity of tiles. The sole other thing you'll need can be a pencil and paper to hold a record of everyone's point count.

Each tile comes with an illustration around the back (circle, eight-point star, four-point star, square, clover, or diamond). Each of the symbols appears in six different colors (red, yellow, orange, green, blue, and purple). In total, the sport has three tiles each in the 36 possible color-symbol combinations. To help make sure you never lose any tiles in between games, Qwirkle comes which has a drawstring storage pouch.

Straightforward, Easy-to-Follow Rules

As in Scrabble, the sport starts with players drawing their very own "hand" of six tiles. The player while using most tiles that share something in common (color or symbol) plays their pieces and wins points. Therefore it's going before the pieces constitute a giant grid. One rule adults will likely have to reiterate to little ones is duplicate tiles don't count. For instance, if someone has three diamonds, as well as of these are green, they are able to only count considered one of those diamonds for points.

As play continues and also the stakes get higher, younger kids might need some help deciding where you can build to maximize their points. Our testers found that the length in the game will make younger kids squirmy halfway through. To keep them engaged, parents can still distribute half the amount of tiles to start. The game is over when all the tiles have been played and all the points are already tallied.
